We would like to introduce you to our core team, the people you will be dealing with while we work on your assignments. They are responsible for co-ordinating, planning and delivering your translations and will put you in touch with one of our in-house team specialists if required.

The first points of contact are:

Drs. H. Bakkeri-team-han-1
Han Bakker read European Studies at the University of Amsterdam and studied German translation at the Institute for Interpreters and Translators in Utrecht. Han is responsible for internal logistics, i.e. everyday co-ordination and scheduling, at our Amsterdam office.

 

 

T. Adank B.Tr.

TDSCN1336im Adank (born in 1978) graduated in 2003 in Dutch and English from the Department of Translation and Interpreting at Zuyd University in Maastricht. After working for several years as a freelance translator and as a project manager at several translation agencies in the south of the Netherlands, he joined the Balance team in early 2014 as office manager in Maastricht. He occupies a central position within the organisation and is responsible for the daily planning and logistics, as well as for quality control and proofreading.

Ron Theuns studied German and English at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, Hogeschool Maastricht. After graduating in 1987, he worked at Stork in Hengelo, where he was promoted to head of the translation department after two years. He joined Balance in 1994 and is now its owner and managing partner. Ron is responsible for overall operational management, for co-ordinating, scheduling and supervising translation work and for IT.

Stuart Doughtyi-team-stuart-1
A native of the United Kingdom, Stuart Doughty has lived and worked in the Netherlands for over 35 years. He joined Balance in 2003 after several years freelancing and working as a translator for various agencies. He initially focused on legal translation, but his portfolio now includes a wide range of subjects. Stuart is head of the English language group.

ean-Marc Ringling, a native speaker of French, studied Philologie Germanique at the University of Liège, where he was awarded the title “Maître en Traduction”. He has been with Balance since 1995 and translates from Dutch and English into French. He is an experienced translator of academic, commercial and legal texts. Jean-Marc is head of the French language group.

 

 

L.  Jakobsi-team-louise-1b
Louise Jakobs was born in Germany. After her final exams at the Liebfrauenschule in Bonn, she studied Dutch and French at the School of Translation and Interpreting in Maastricht (1990-94), after which she worked at Balance (1994-2003) and then studied Dutch law at Amsterdam University, completing her degree in 2005. Louise has an extremely wide range of experience of translating legal texts. At Balance, she is responsible for the legal translations from Dutch into German and German into Dutch, and she is also the contact for translations into and from German.

 

C.J. Groot B.Tr.i-team-ineke-1
Ineke Groot graduated from Hogeschool Maastricht, Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, in 1987, specialising in English and French. She worked for a general translation firm for six years and then spent ten years freelancing. Most of her work during this period was from the European Commission. Ineke joined Balance in 2004 as head of the Dutch language group.

S.J.M. Gijsen B.Tr.i-team-suzanne-1
Suzanne Gijsen studied at Hogeschool Maastricht, Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. She founded Balance together with Gerd Weyers in 1983. Almost immediately following graduation, she focused on the logistics side of the organisation.
